Work in progress.
I've been wracking my brain for the last few weeks trying to figure out what I wanted my first post to be. I kept thinking that it had to be something amazing to catch viewers attention. Then I realized that it doesn't. I am doing this more for myself and to find those out there that may be into the same things as me. So, here I am writing my first post.
I've decided to share a little more about me. You can easily visit my about page to learn the basis of who I am, but I want to share more than that.

As far back as I can remember I have always had some sort of interest in art. When I was in elementary school I received my first camera. I was probably about 8 and I remember being ecstatic and trying to get my hands on as much film as possible so that I could take photos of everything and anything. I loved it! As my life got busier with school and a social life I found myself putting art on the back burner. I had taken a few art classes in school and never considered myself an artist because I couldn't draw. After all, that's what an artist has to be able to do, right? Fast forward to undergrad where I took up a photography class and was able to rekindle my love for the art form.
I proceeded to take a few more photography classes and actually went on to get an associate's degree in photography. Once I achieved this I thought I wanted to be an art teacher, but realized that in reality in order to do that I really would have to draw! Since I have also had a passion for children and literacy that's where my decision to stick with education came from.

Anyway, throughout undergrad I had to take a few other art classes... still life drawing, figure drawing, basic art theory, art history, and even acting. While there were a few things that I loved about each course (aside from acting!), I never truly found what area I felt strongest in and the most passionate about. I felt that I was more of a crafter (though I still consider crafters artists)... simply because I gravitated toward things like art journaling (which I only did for a few weeks), cross stitch, embroidery, arm knitting, etc.
Fast forward to today... If you haven't noticed I am quite indecisive about many things and I tend to jump from one thing to another. I'll get really into something and obsess over it and then try something else. It tends to drive my husband nuts! This is where I'm hoping One Little Fox Lane will come into play and help with this!
I want to share my crazy crafting world and other aspects of my life with fellow sporadic crafters and bloggers!

Above are some photos of things I have been recently working on. I've played with paints before in classes and through art journaling, but have never truly worked with a canvas before. I painted an abstract canvas, but can't decide if it's finished yet. What do you guys think? I thought about painting some mountains or something on the bottom.

Newest product in my etsy shop. Hand embroidery of your child's drawings.
I've done a few successful cross stitches in the not so distant past, but have only ever done one other embroidery project. Which was a huge undertaking for my first... I embroidered a lullaby my mom sang to my brother and I as children along with lines to make it look like college ruled paper in a 12in hoop. I'll try to dig up photos if I can find them. Anyway, this is my most recent one and it came out way better than my first! I'm loving it!

My first weaving.
My newest obsession is weaving. Above is my very first attempt. It's small, about 9"x12", but I think it came out ok. I'm not in love with it, but I don't hate it either. There are flaws, but I'm alright with that. I've learned from them!
Are any of you like me... you read tutorials and go head first into your first project, but then what you've read goes completely out the window... like you completely blank on it and you basically just wing it!? Yeah, that's what happened with this one. I had zero game plan on design and just went with it. Hoping my current work in progress will come out a lot better. I do have a semi game plan, but every time I think of where I want to go next, I change my mind, so we'll see! I'll certainly share it once it is finished.

What about you guys... what are your current obsessions?
I'm always looking for new blogs, instagrams, or etsy shops to check out. Do you have one? If so, leave the information in a comment and I'll be sure to check it out!
Until next time... xx
